About Us

The mission of the African Middle Eastern Leadership Project (AMEL) is to mobilize, empower, and unite millennial leaders and activists from the Middle East and Africa to build resilient, inclusive societies that are free from discrimination, persecution, and violent coercion, and to advocate for policies in support of these goals. The AMEL Project empowers and connects young activists from the MEA region with one another and with American audiences, peers and policymakers to strategically impact human rights and democracy landscapes today and tomorrow. Through online training, speaking engagements and fellowships, bold young African and Middle Eastern activists – both those already living in the US and those back in the region – will spread dialogue and inspiration, while at the same time building their skills and experience to ascend to top leadership positions.
