[Strategy] We will relieve poverty by assisting entrepreneurial enterprises who create good jobs and quality products within local communities. Our criteria for success are (1) establishing a safe and respectful workplace, (2) creating jobs that provide exceptional economic opportunity, (3) providing a quality product that is in demand, and (4) starting a sustainable business (either nonprofit or for profit).

Our approach is to identify and partner with organizations fighting poverty and promoting economic empowerment. These include development groups, local community groups, charitable organizations, universities and academics. Partners bring culturally aligned understanding of the workforce and the market. We bring design and manufacturing expertise and experience. Together we create opportunity to develop a workforce that earns a living while learning skills for a hopeful future.

Our project process consists of three major phases—consult, design, and implement. We provide consultation to help partners discover ideas for products to meet the needs in their community or region. We bring some ideas of our own, but we desire to focus on their ideas and how best to develop them. Our goal is to help them uncover available options to create employment-producing products. Then we apply experience in product design and manufacturing to help partners develop quality products for local production. With their help, we identify the materials and manufacturing methods workers will utilize while earning a good living. Our designs may require training employees in craftsmanship, while incorporating technology appropriate solutions. Finally, we work together with partners to create work process documentation, quality standards and processes, and to troubleshoot their startup manufacturing issues.
