About Us

The Yonkers Family YMCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1882. Our mission is to provide activities and services that develop the mind, body, and spirit. For 131 years, the Yonkers YMCA has provided services including housing, adult and youth recreation, educational activities, and other programs meant to improve the quality of life in Yonkers. The Yonkers YMCA is the largest provider of SRO housing for men in Yonkers. Our services are available to all without regard to age, sex, race, or religion.

Our school age childcare program has been a beacon of light in southwest Yonkers as we are a “Safe Haven” for children and their parents. The YMCA serves as a crossroads for the Yonkers community. Our partnerships with over 30 community-based organizations allow us to provide enrichment activities and resources that are not available through many other programs. As a full service facility, we are able to provide academic, social, recreational, cultural and service learning opportunities for our participants. From basketball and soccer, to computers and media production, the YMCA offers our participants a comprehensive continuum of programs, services and supports.
