About Us

Asian Pacific Partners for Empowerment, Advocacy and Leadership (APPEAL) is a national network of organizations and individuals working towards social justice and a tobacco-free Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Our mission is to champion social justice and achieve parity and empowerment for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders by supporting and mobilizing community-led movements through advocacy and leadership development on critical public health issues.

Founded in 1994, APPEAL has established itself as the only national AAPI network providing key technical assistance and resources on tobacco control. APPEAL's accomplishments include the development of a national network of over 450 members; capacity building trainings for AAPI communities in 10 U.S. regions; development of a national policy framework on AAPI tobacco control; hosting of the APPEAL Leadership Program for adults and youth; and the launching of advocacy campaigns on tobacco and tobacco industry targeting.
