About Us

We live at a turning point in our planet’s history. What we do about climate change in the next 12 years will make the critical difference.  Resilient Neighborhoods' mission is to empower San Francisco Bay Area residents to reduce their carbon footprints, while building community resilience to wildfires, floods and other climate-related disasters.

Many people are feeling overwhelmed, sad, and angry about climate change and what it means for themselves, their children, and grandchildren. We inspire them by giving hope and showing them that they can make a difference. With our free workshops, residents learn how to take meaningful and measurable actions to slash carbon emissions and protect against the impacts of climate change—and more important, they actually do it! Over 1,200 residents have reduced more than 6.7 million pounds of CO2 pollution through our award-winning program. Citizen action is critical here since it accounts for more than 65% of the CO2 emissions.

Our average household CO2 reduction is 30% of starting emissions, which is nearly twice the  CO2 reduction target set by California’s Global Warming Solutions Act. And that’s just the start. Participants continue their lifestyle changes and 75% take additional actions after they graduate, by following our roadmap to get their household to carbon neutral. We work in partnership with municipalities, numerous agencies and environmental groups, to build a movement to help reverse climate change.
