About Us

Help Educate is a 501(c)3 international development organization built on the idea that higher education has the power to transform individuals and communities. We work with local Nicaraguan committees in rural communities to identify students with the greatest potential for making a positive impact in their communities. We provide these students with university scholarships, leadership development training, and community service opportunities to build their careers and move Nicaragua forward. Help Educate's students are primarily from rural communities and attend nearby Nicaraguan universities.

Help Educate operates in Nicaragua with a team of community-based volunteers and paid staff, and is overseen by an active, volunteer Board of Directors in the US. Help Educate was founded by Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and its core values of sustainable, community-based development and principles of volunteerism continue to drive Help Educate’s model.
