UA Institute of Math and Science for Young Women - NYC
The Urban Assembly Institute of Math and Science for Young Women is a school opening in September 2006 that is rooted in the belief that all of our students are capable of high academic achievement when they are both challenged and supported. Our mission is to stimulate girls’ interest in the fields of math, science, and technology by offering them hands on courses and projects that challenge and excite them. The fundamental tenet of the school is that empowering young women to logically reason an abstract argument will serve them well no matter what they choose to be or do. In addition, we provide support to ensure success; an advisory system, a mentoring program, and counseling services. We are partnered with the Urban Assembly, Girls Inc, Polytechnic University, and the NYC Department of Construction and Design. Other partnerships are in the works.
