Bamenda, NW, Cameroon

About Us

Founded in 1989 and registered as a legal Cameroonian association in 1955, the Association for Creative Teaching for rural Women and youth Development (ACTWID), is based in Bamenda, North-West Cameroon.

For more than two decadesACTWID Cameroon and its local volonteers have been sensitizing and empowering poorly marginalized rural women in the grass fields of Cameroon: assisting them to manage their resources and to know their rights has been the main focus for ACTWID until recently.

Today, the organization has diversified into a wide range of activities, having regard to the new priorities that came along years after years.

Thus ACTWID Cameroon is not only dealing with women's rights and resources' management, but also teaching on different topics such as education, health, sustainable agriculture, small enterprise development, youth development, climate change and environmental issues.

Our objectives:

- To raise women's awareness about their rights and abilities to manage their resources

- To build capacities of the targeted communities in the identification, production, financing and marketing of potential agricultural and non-agricultural products, including micro-enterprises.

- To promote business-oriented community-based organizations, undertaking collective production and marketing techniques for long-term sustainability.

- To raise awareness and knowledge of farmers on environmentally sustainable agricultural technologies and practices.
