Here at Women Enabled Enterprises, we strive to help low income, high potential women start or grow a retail/product-based small business for self-sufficiency through a virtual, mobile phone based, retail entrepreneurship skills building, access to international and local retail markets and micro-funding.

Women Enabled Enterprises focuses on supporting women of color in the African continent with businesses ranging from emerging to 1-3 years operational, with the potential to grow into sustainable businesses. All women need to participate in this program is a cell phone (a data stipend is provided by Women Enabled Enterprises for those who need it.) These 2-hour weekly workshops give our participants the basic skills to manage their businesses to grow towards profitability and scalable potential while building a network of like minded, entrepreneurial peers.

At the conclusion of the 12-week training, participants are provided ongoing mentorship and opportunities to pitch their business concepts to South African-based venture capital partners. To further participants’ growth and business scaling profitability, WEE provides direct access to a broad range of markets, including local e-commerce platform AYA Africa, spring & fall buyers markets exclusively hosted for WEE entrepreneurs, and US-based ShopConsciously (https://shopconsciously.com/) market for international exporting.

This program, and the work of WEE as a whole, provides a low-barrier, innovative, and scalable method to bring women into the formal economy by equipping them with a tangible skill-set, direct access to markets, and capital investment opportunities to further build, grow, and sustain their businesses into perpetuity.
