  • Mission

To provide assistance to abused, neglected and delinquent children who are under the jurisdiction of the juvenile court

    About Us

Mentor Iowa was established in 1974 as Volunteers in Probation, which became Very Important Partners in 1989. In 2000, the Board of Directors changed the name to Mentor Iowa to better reflect the mission. The organization provides guidance to Children in Need of Assistance to enhance their self-esteem, stability, and chances for a positive future. Most children are court ordered to Mentor Iowa because they have been either physically, emotionally or sexually abused and neglected. Without help these children are destined to pass onto a new generation the cycle of abuse and neglect that has plagued their lives.
