About Us

Oregon's Safe Communities Project is a coalition of faith, labor, immigrant rights groups, civil liberties and civil rights groups that work together to end collaboration between ICE and local law enforcement. In wake of the national outcry against the mass deportation program “Secure Communities”, the coalition is working to raise awareness of the civil rights violations and public safety concerns inherent to the program.

Safe Communities Project is comprised of Voz Workers’ Rights Education Project, Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition, Oregon New Sanctuary Movement, Portland Central America Solidarity Committee, North West Immigrant Youth Alliance, CAUSA of Oregon, American Friends Service Committee, Rural Organizing Project, Jobs with Justice, Center for Intercultural Organizing, Committee of Solidarity and Mutual Support, ACLU of Oregon and the National Lawyer’s Guild.
