    Reach Out and Read (ROR) is a national literacy organization for children 6 mo-5 yrs old. The mission of ROR is to make books a routine part of pediatric primary care so that children grow up with a love of books and reading. Volunteers in the waiting room read aloud to children, showing parents and children the pleasures and techniques of looking at books together. Volunteer requirements: 18+ years of age. Able to make 2hr/week committment. Must attend one orientation at Valley Medical Center to become a volunteer. Contact andrew.groggel@hhs.sccgov.org for additional details.
