The Phaung Daw Oo Monastic Education High School is a free monastic school in Mandalay, Myanmar, that actively integrates progressive secular education into the mandatory government curriculum. The school serves over 6,000 students free of charge, near 1,000 of whom live on campus.
The school is organized into a number of tracks and departments. They are as follows.
- Normal classes: government curriculum-based classes conducted in Myanmar language for the majority of our students
- Fast Track: a multi-year curriculum for select students conducted all in English
- Bridging Program: English intensive designed specifically for teachers and staff
- Pre-College Program: a competetive, English-immersion educational capstone for young teachers and students. With a curriculum featuring a year-long crash course in the liberal arts, PDOPCP strives to create confident community leaders, and to equip its graduates with the tools necessary to thrive at an international university if students choose to pursue higher degrees of education.
