The National Guard Association of Texas was founded in 1959 by a group of Warrant Officers on the principle that it is important to have an organization speak out for the Texas National Guard and its members. NGAT is a non-profit veterans organization of over 35,000 current, former, and retired Texas Military Department members organized for the following purposes:
To promote and support adequate national security.
To foster and improve the Texas National Guard and the National Guard of the United States as a component of the Armed Forces of the United States.
To perserve and perpetuate the history and tradition of the Texas Military Department.
