About Us

The New York Community Trust was established in 1924. We are New York City's community foundation, and are the largest private funder of City nonprofits. Along with our two divisions--the Westchester Community Foundation and the Long Island Community Foundation--we make grants for a huge range of charitable activity so important to the well-being and vitality of our region. We are able to do this through the generosity of New Yorkers, past and present, who set up charitable funds with us. We ended 2019 with assets of nearly $3 billion in nearly 2,000 charitable funds, and made grants totaling close to $175 million.
