  • Mission

The mission of the Humane Evacuation Animal Rescue Team (HEART) is to provide assistance in times of emergency/disasters, whether man-made or natural, rescuing animals, setting up and operating emergency animal shelters when requested by the appropriate authority having jurisdiction. HEART also works to educate the public regarding emergency preparedness for all animals within their care.

    About Us

HEART was started after Hurricane Katrina when it because apparent that the displaced animals in Spokane County had no one to care for them. Since then, HEART has cared for many thousands of animals during times of evacuation and seizure due to cruelty and neglect. HEART also sends responders both nationally and internationally to work with partner organizations.

Currently, we are fundraising to purchase our own response vehicle so that we aren't reliant on others to get our equipment where it needs to go.
