    MISSION

The Frederick Douglass Liberty Alliance (FDLA) is committed to strengthening underserved communities through workforce development, leadership training, preparedness education, economic mobility, and community resilience initiatives.

Through the Empowerment Academy initiative, FDLA works to connect individuals to workforce pathways, skilled trades opportunities, emergency preparedness education, mentorship, and wraparound support services through strategic partnerships and community collaboration.

Our mission is to help build stronger, more self-sufficient communities by creating practical pathways toward opportunity, leadership, and long-term economic stability.

    About Us

    MORE ABOUT US

The Frederick Douglass Liberty Alliance was founded in Houston, Texas as a community-centered organization focused on workforce development, economic empowerment, preparedness, leadership development, and community resilience.

Our flagship initiative, the Empowerment Academy, is being developed as a workforce and community resilience hub designed to help connect underserved communities to existing workforce pathways, skilled trades training, preparedness education, and wraparound support services through strategic partnerships rather than duplicating systems that already exist.

The initiative has continued gaining momentum through engagement with workforce development partners, emergency management stakeholders, community organizations, and public officials throughout Texas. FDLA has participated in conversations involving Houston Community College workforce pathways, WorkFaith Connection, Texas VOAD stakeholders, emergency preparedness initiatives, and workforce/economic development discussions at both the local and state levels.

The Empowerment Academy is currently preparing for a Juneteenth pilot launch in Houston’s Fifth Ward focused on workforce opportunity, leadership development, preparedness education, and long-term community empowerment.

As the organization continues growing, FDLA is actively seeking volunteers, strategic partners, grant opportunities, sponsorships, and collaborative relationships that align with our mission of building stronger pathways toward economic mobility and community resilience throughout Houston and across Texas.
