North Carolina Reading Service

  • Mission

North Carolina Reading Service, previously known as the Triangle Radio Reading Service, exists to provide access to local news and information from the print media to people who are elderly, blind or otherwise print impaired. The service is provided over a closed circuit radio frequency, via community access television in some areas, web streaming, podcasts, and and devices such as Google Home and Alexa.

    About Us

Volunteers typically read newspapers, magazines and some other print material over a specially tuned radio which is loaned to individuals who have requested the service. There is no charge to listeners, but donations are accepted to defray the cost of purchasing the radios. Some volunteers assist with office and programming chores, others serve on the Board of Directors, or work on special events.
