About Us

Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is among the world's leading humanitarian agencies providing relief, rehabilitation, protection, resettlment services, and advocacy for refugees, displaced persons and victims of oppression and violent conflict. Currently working in some 30 countries, the IRC distributes lifesaving aid, rebilds shattered communities, establishes schools, trains teachers, cares for war-traumatized children, rehabilitates health systems, restores lost livelihoods, and strengthens the capacity of local organizations and institutions. Accross the US, the IRC also helps refugees who are admitted into the country build new lives and acquire the skills needed to become self-sufficient. Committed for 70 years to restoring dignity and self-reliance, the IRC is a global symbol of hope and renewal for those who have taken flight in search of freedom.
