Fordham Bedford Community Services
Fordham Bedford Community Services (FBCS), an organization founded by the Fordham Bedford Housing Corporation, is committed to serving the children and families of the Northwest Bronx and its surrounding areas. FBCS is continually seeking new and innovative ways to strengthen families by providing a variety of programs and services. In partnership with the community and other local not-for-profit organizations, Fordham Bedford Community Services is at the forefront of addressing the ever changing needs of a community that has long been neglected. Fordham Bedford Community Services is a non-profit organization.
Since 1980, Fordham Bedford Housing Corporation has been a leader in developing low and middle income housing that is safe, sound, and affordable. The Housing Corporation manages many buildings, including specialized housing for the elderly and formerly homeless. In addition, the organization developed Concourse House, a Tier II transitional residence for homeless women and their children. In 1995, the Housing Corporation and Concourse House opened a community child-care center for low-income working families in the Fordham Bedford community. In order to aid in preserving families while nurturing children’s healthy development, the housing corporation created FBCS, which stands today as a supportive social service organization.
FBCS provides services to: the Fordham Bedford neighborhood at Refuge House, the Fordham Burnside neighborhood at New Walton Avenue, the West Farms community at West Farms Square Plaza. Additional services are provided through a home based childcare network at our Jacob’s Place location and specialized residential services at Serviam Gardens Residential Community.
