The mission of the American Swedish Historical Museum is to promote awareness in America of the contributions of Swedish culture.

- One of Philadelphia’s great museums with rich collections, a unique building, and engaging exhibitions and programs.
- A place where people of all backgrounds come to encounter Swedish culture, experiencegreat art, and explore history.
- A place where people exchange ideas, and learn about Swedish perspectives oncontemporary issues.
- A place where Swedes, Swedish-Americans and other people with Nordic heritage gatherto express and celebrate their cultural identity.
