TEVERETERNO (EternalTiber) is an international contemporary public art project dedicated to celebrating the Tiber River: for a vital urban river piazza in Rome, Italy. The project is a catalyst for the revival of the river, it focuses on a central section of the river, establishing a site, the Piazza Tevere, for an annual free multidisciplinary contemporary arts festival that will draw Romans and visitors alike to the Tiber. This river plaza – the Piazza Tevere –will serve in years to come as a venue for contemporary art projects in the midst of classical Rome. From the Piazza Tevere, the River will come alive through the vibrant work of contemporary Italian, American and international artists, all of whom will create new works of art commissioned for Piazza Tevere. This annual Tiber River festival will forge partnerships with selected European city festivals and other foreign academies in Rome. It will be a unique annual offering to the City of Rome and will celebrate the power of the present in the heart of the past, in harmony with the timeless flow of water.
