Blueprint for Change

About Us

Blueprint for Change (BFC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has over 15 years of experience working with communities throughout Hawai‘i to reduce instances of child abuse and neglect. Since 2000, the organization has worked with the Department of Human Services (DHS) to develop and support a statewide series of family-centered, community-driven service delivery models known as the Neighborhood Places. A Neighborhood Place (NP) is a resource facility that provides families who are at-risk for abuse or neglect with a gamut of services focused on diverting them from involvement with the state’s child welfare system. These services include, but are not limited to, preventative activities, training, family support and strengthening, referral services, and if need be, intervention.

Each year, the NP system provides 350 families with culturally congruent, child abuse prevention services, and an additional 1000 families with informational resources and referrals. Furthermore, NP’s engage their communities by conducting outreach efforts, providing trainings and workshops for families as well as other local service providers, and by hosting or participating in community events that promote a vision of every child in Hawai‘i growing up in a loving family, a nurturing home and a safe environment.
