About Us

Concrete Jungle, an Atlanta-based nonprofit founded in 2009, recovers the abundance of ignored, fresh produce growing on our streets, yards and parks to meet health and nutrition needs of our homeless and food insecure population.  We do this by:

  • Mapping fruit trees
  • Educating and engaging volunteers to harvest fruit and work on our farm
  • Creating technology to monitor ripening of trees
  • Cultivating vegetables to donate on our urban farm in Southwest Atlanta
  • Gleaning from farms and orchards at the end of their season
  • Engaging local shelters and soup kitchens to make fresh, local produce more accessible

Since 2009, Concrete Jungle has donated 93,564 pounds of produce (374,256 servings).
