About Us

The human powered outdoor recreation community has a direct and intensely personal interest in the conservation of our public lands. We are often the first to notice—and care—when something is wrong in our outdoor landscapes, and we are highly motivated to protect these places and the experiences they offer. Outdoor Alliance unites this community in order to protect our public lands and ensure that they are managed in a way that embraces the human powered experience. In doing so, we are building and nurturing a conservation constituency for the 21st century.

Founded in 2005, Outdoor Alliance is a non-profit coalition of five national human powered membership organizations: Access Fund, American Canoe Association, American Whitewater, International Mountain Bicycling Association and Winter Wildlands Alliance. These five organizations have a collective membership of approximately 100,000 individuals and a national network of 1,100 local clubs.

Outdoor Alliance protects and promotes the human powered outdoor recreation experience by uniting the voices of thousands of paddlers, mountain bikers, climbers and skiers to conserve America’s public lands.
