  • Mission

    Founded in 1971, the Tri-City Ecology center (TCEC) is your local leader in advocating sound environmental policies that preserve and maintain unique natural resources, clean air, clean water, and a high quality of life.

    About Us

    TCEC has led the local environmental movement since 1971, when it established a local recycling center and launched the Eco-Logic newsletter.

    Since then, TCEC, a non-profit, all-volunteer organization, has addressed additional environmental needs of the community with timely projects and donations.

    • Support of public transit and bicycle/pedestrian access
    • Education encouraging water and energy conservation
    • Improved Bay water quality via better sewage treatment
    • Spearheading of the successful 1981 Fremont Hill Initiative and supporting the 2002 Hill Initiative
    • Protection of Tri-City wetlands and watersheds
    • Expansion of the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge
    • Program for household toxic wastes disposal
    • Advocacy for recycling and composting
    • Support for historic preservation
    • Protection of the burrowing owl and other threatened and endangered species
    • Rescue of 53 poplar trees in Fremont’s Central Park
    • Design and care of the Museum of Local History garden
    • Advocacy for mixed-use "green" urban development
    • Involvement in environmental education activities
    • Support state and national environmental issues
