  • About Us

    The GSMA Mobile for Development Foundation is a U.S. 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The Foundation promotes and implements partnerships between the mobile industry and the international development community. It partners with the GSMA Mobile for Development team to implement programs leverage mobile phone companies to accelerate access to mobile connections in the developing world and to provide commercially sustainable services to low income communities through the phones such as banking, health, and education.

    The GSMA mWomen Programme is funded through the GSMA Mobile for Development Foundation. mWomen is a global public-private partnership between the worldwide mobile industry and the international development community to reduce the mobile phone gender gap, enabling mobile ownership and more effective usage for women in emerging markets. Launched by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in October 2010, the GSMA mWomen Programme is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Australian Agency for International Development, GSMA and Visa Inc. Its projects are based globally.
