Charter Cities Institute

  • About Us

The Charter Cities Institute is a fast growing nonprofit dedicated to building the ecosystem for charter cities, new cities with a special jurisdiction to improve the business environment. Our goal is to help develop dozens of charter cities which spur economic development and lift tens of millions of people out of poverty. We work as a think tank, writing papers, holding events, having a podcast, etc, as well as offering technical assistance to new city developments. We are currently working with projects in Zambia, Nigeria, and Central America.

We believe that charter cities will play a critical role in poverty alleviation in the 21st century and that we can positively influence the development of charter cities.
