About Us

Friends of Bethany Hamilton (FOBH) reaches out to encourage a broken world, offering hope to overcome through Jesus Christ.  Established by the friends and family of Bethany Hamilton, a well-known professional surfer who lost her arm to a shark attack at the age of 13, our organization was founded to help bring hope and peace in the lives of others who are facing tragedy. The aloha Bethany received in her time of need helped to set the platform for her to overcome the difficulties ahead.

Through Encouragement Packages for shark attack survivors and traumatic amputees, Youth Conferences, Retreats and sharing inspiring life stories, FOBH’s vision is to establish individuals to be Overcomers in Christ. We have existing annual retreats, Beautifully Flawed Retreat and Hawaii Elite Surf Camp, designed to invest personally in small groups, and an annual outreach event, Anchored in Love, modeled to reach masses of young women.

Our platform with Bethany is large and continually growing, and together these programs reach thousands of young people annually with the hope and love of Jesus Christ - the ultimate Overcomer - and challenging them to live life with a purpose.
