About Us

Ya'axché Conservation Trust (Ya'axché) is a Belizean organisation that works to find harmony between nature and human development for the benefit of both. Ya'axché aims to maintain a healthy environment with empowered communities by fostering sustainable livelihoods, protected area management, biodiversity conservation and environmental education within the Maya Golden Landscape.

The Maya Golden Landscape is the focal area of our work and is the last remaining contiguous broadleaf forest between the Maya Mountains and the Caribbean Sea. Within this region Ya'axché manages three protected areas, the Golden Stream Corridor Preserve (15,000 acres, private) and the Bladen Nature Reserve (100,000 acres, on behalf of the Government of Belize), and Maya Mountain North Forest Reserve (36,000 acres, also on behalf of the Government of Belize).
