About Us

The Historic Annapolis Foundation is entering its second half-century of leadership in promoting community history and preserving the architectural heritage of Maryland’s state capital. Protecting and conserving distinctive Annapolis architecture while educating the public about four centuries of city history are the Foundation’s core missions. The Foundation serves as an advocate for preservation in the city’s Historic District and builds partnerships with local institutions and individuals to encourage conservation of Annapolis’ unique built environment. Additionally, the Foundation works to increase public awareness of Annapolis history bymanaging eleven historic sites and by offering educational programs that highlight our State Capital’s diverse cultural heritage. In the past year, over 255,000 visitors, including tourists, residents, families and school groups, learned about Maryland history through the Foundation’s guided tours of historic properties, walking tours of the city, lecture series, and other special events.
