About Us

CancerBgone began in the Fall of 2010 by Patricia Diman to honour her uncle Seamus Loughrey's legacy of unconditional generosity, love, and humour. Seamus was a well known photographer in Northern Ireland. He captured the beautiful landscapes of Ireland as well as covering many community and civic events. He was Coleraine Borough Council's photographer at hundreds of different occasions. He was one of those rare people who lit up a room when he walked in with his humour. Everyone was always glad when Seamus arrived because he was always great fun to be around. Battling pancreatic and lung cancer for several months, Seamus passed away at his brother's Strand Road home in Portstewart, Northern Ireland on May 25, 2010. It was not until after his passing that the true extent of his compassion and generosity for others was made known. Many people came forward to tell their personal stories of how Seamus had helped them throughout their lives and how he did so without wanting anything in return or any recognition for his good deeds. It is in keeping with his spirit of altruism that CancerBgone began its mission to help lessen the suffering of the local North Country community affected by cancer. Cancerbgone is affiliated with Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH) in Plattsburgh NY.
