  • Mission

To promote and advance the success of Knoxville’s Old City as an historic, unique, and vibrant neighborhood.

    About Us

    • ADVOCATE The Old City Association acts as a vehicle for our voices to be heard. Examples are alerting the police when we have safety concerns, and expressing our needs to City officials regarding things like public improvements.
    • COMMUNICATE We spread the word for internal communication, and we also want to let everyone know about outside things that affect businesses and residents. For example, we let you know when there’s going to be a road closure, then advocate to the City for signage that effectively directs traffic to our businesses rather than discouraging people to visit us.
    • PROMOTE We gather information about what businesses do, and share that information with potential customers. For example, on First Fridays, we make our own posters including all businesses who want to open up their places.
    • HAVE FUN! The Old City is full of opportunities for fun, and we fully leverage those opportunities. Our board and committees work hard to put on an exhaustive list of events that attract folks from far and wide. For example, our St. Patty’s Day Pub Crawl has been a massive success for many years, and we’ve added many others to our list like the Old City Market, Oktoberfest, SideWalk SideShow, and our newest putt-putt themed event, Putt N’ Crawl.
