Family Rescue is the only domestic violence-specific agency on the south side of Chicago. Our comprehensive services aim to give our clients the best chance to achieve emotional and economic success. Since our incorporation in 1981, Family Rescue has served over 75,000 women and children across our four programs and seven sites. In FY ’17, Family Rescue served 1,308 clients. Most recently, Family Rescue has raised and invested over $1 million into the South Side neighborhood through building a new administrative and Community Outreach office and renovating parts of Ridgeland Apartments. We continue to grow and see no end in sight.
Rosenthal Family Lodge offers safe, emergency housing for up to 36 women and children when their only other option is homelessness. Ridgeland Apartments and Children’s Program offer transitional housing for up to two years for survivors with children. Both programs offer trauma-specific counseling services as well as life-skill programs designed to help the survivor thrive emotionally and financially after parting ways with Family Rescue. Our Community Outreach Program offers the same life-skill programs to victims who are not in need of housing assistance as well as offer prevention education to the community. Family Rescue also has a Legal Advocacy Program. Our advocates located in the Centralized Domestic Violence Court of Cook County assist victims navigate the civil and criminal court system. LAP also work with the Chicago Police Department in the 3rd and 4th districts to train their officers about domestic violence and help identify high-risk domestic violence victims and provide services.
