San Leandro Improvement Association dba Downtown San Leandro Community Benefit District

Our mission is to create a safe, clean, and vibrant downtown San Leandro that supports residents, visitors, and local merchants. We achieve this through our ambassador services program, public space enhancements, and a lively calendar of special events.

Our Ambassador Services operate daily from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., ensuring cleanliness and order in the downtown area. They provide de-escalation services, wellness checks, and nourishing sack lunches to our unsheltered neighbors, and connect them with essential service providers when needed.

Using a combination of general funds and restricted grant support, we enhance downtown’s physical environment by introducing public seating, colorful planters, public art, and safety cameras for a more welcoming atmosphere.

Finally, our free special events stimulate local economic development and celebrate the diverse San Leandro community, fostering cohesion and resilience among individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Funded entirely by generous sponsors, these events aim to bring the community together, not to make a profit!
