Chinansi Foundation

Chinansi Foundation is a Charity NGO in Malawi working in areas of HIV/AIDS, Sustainable Environmental Management, Food Security, Education and Health.It provides "Simple Solutions that make Big Changes for a Better Life" Its Mission is to contribute towards alleviating the human sufferings and social injustices of the vulnerable and ordinary people by providing them with renewed hope for their socio-economic development. It envisages a vision of :Together for a secure and sustainable Livelihood". For the past three years,Chinansi Foundation has been working in areas of Environmental Management where it has facilitated for planting of trees,construction of rain water harvesting tanks,fish ponds and bee keeping. Over 20communities have benefited from this project.Currently Chinansi is designing an Improved Wood Cook Stove project to help reduce emmission of CO2 and also reduce the cost impact of fuelwood amongst rural families.This project will help conserve environment and mitigate the effects of climate change.Another area where Chinansi is doing in on HIV/AIDS management.Currently it is running a project called Gogo Msamalira Ana[ Grandmothers Caring for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children] This project empowers grandmothers to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS by training them as Care Givers.These grandmothers are also trained in entrepreneurship skills,modern farming and HIV/AIDS Care and Support.They are provided with farm inputs,goats and working capital of 20,000.OVCs under this project are assisted with school fees and supplies. 40 children are supported and 20 grandmothers are benefiting from the project.Livelihood Integration for Economic Empowerment [LIFE] This is a project that aims at empowering smallholder farmers with skills and knowledge to sustain their livelihood. Under this project Chinansi is supporting over 2500 farmers who are involved in Paprika and Bird Eye Chillies production.
