Mission

Our mission is to create dynamic and innovative artistic media and events that connect and empower women across the African diaspora and creative thinkers around the world.

Overview

Think of us as your grounded, soulful, fun-loving, cosmopolitan companion along the creative journey. We'll let you know what great black female artists across the U.S., Latin America, Caribbean, Europe, Africa and elsewhere in the Diaspora are creating and exploring.

Most importantly, we hope you'll live up to your own definition of what it means to "Live Unchained," share your own works and reach out to some of the artists we feature. The creatives come from various national and creative backgrounds--basically any country and every art form.

In a coconutshell, we are an arts organization with three main components:

1. The Network--We want to create rich, fun, powerful dialogues amongst black women throughout the African Diaspora. We believe that art is one of the best ways to enhance our communication and understanding--everyday language and intellect are just too limiting to express everything we need to say.

2. The Media--We create online media (with our multi-media Live Unchained Blogozine at liveunchained.com/blog) and are prepping for our first print and digital anthologies.

3. The Events--Our events include art exhibits, workshops, showcases, film screenings and all around parties that do away with the idea of art as being haughty taughty, stuffy and stiff. All our events have an interactive component and help people realize the message of our slogan: Connect. Create. Live Unchained.
