Who We Are The management, staff, and Board of Clinica Msr. Oscar A. Romero are mission-driven to provide quality health care, health education, and community advocacy on behalf of the underserved men, women and children of Greater Los Angeles. Health care is a human right and Clinica Romero works to ensure access to it for all people regardless of their ability to pay. A majority of the administrative, clinical and counseling staff are from the ethnic communities served by Clinica Romero, which guarantees solidarity of purpose, ability to communicate and empathic care.

Mission Clinica Monsenor Oscar A. Romero’s mission is to provide affordable, quality healthcare, health education, and advocacy to the uninsured and underserved communities of Greater Los Angeles. As a private, nonprofit, federally qualified community health center, Clinica Romero operates in the Pico-Union/Westlake and Boyle Heights/East Los Angeles neighborhoods. Patients are attracted to Clinica Romero’s culturally sensitive care and come from over 140 Southern California zip codes. They are men and women, teenagers and children, primarily the working poor housed within crowded ethnic neighborhoods or else homeless.

Foundation A coalition of Salvadoran civil war refugees sought to address the pressing mental and physical needs of their compatriots in the Los Angeles community and founded Clinica Romero in 1983 with the assistance of volunteer physicians. Inspiration for the mission of the clinic is rooted in the active compassion and defense of the poor exemplified by the life of martyred Archbishop Romero of El Salvador. Romero’s theology and non-violence echoes the thought and practice of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. Clinica Romero staff continue this tradition of compassionate treatment of others through their organizational values.
