    About Us

The Midwest Building Decarbonization Coalition (Midwest BDC) is leading a first-of-its-kind, equity-first movement to transform how we heat, cool, and power buildings across the Midwest. We're bringing together a diverse ecosystem of collaborators—from local environmental justice advocates to national organizations—united by a bold vision: achieving zero emissions from the Midwestern building sector by 2050.

Founded with fiscal sponsorship from Minnesota-based Fresh Energy, Midwest BDC established its independent 501c3 status in 2024 and has grown into a powerful coalition with active members across eight Midwestern states. Our strength lies in our diversity—connecting individuals and organizations who bring unique perspectives but share a common goal.
