  • About Us

What does United Way stand for?

United Way Silicon Valley helps families with younger kids get stable enough to help their kids get a good education. Education is the best tool to beat poverty, but kids living in desperate situations find it harder to succeed in school. UWSV helps people help themselves by creating opportunities for local families to get the tools they need to succeed.

What does United Way do? United Way Silicon Valley collaborates with other nonprofits, community organizations, governments, schools, foundations and businesses to get our work done. We invest in existing programs that have measurable results, we build programs to fill in gaps, and we bring agencies together to serve the community collaboratively. We also give people an opportunity to volunteer in their community and to help influence public policy on issues related to poverty and quality of life.

    How can people get involved?

    Three ways:

Give – UWSV’s Community Action Fund is an easy and powerful way to create lasting change in our community. www.uwsv.org/give

Advocate - You can make a change with your voice. Get informed. Tell your friends. Email a legislator. UWSV needs people who are passionate about making this a better community. http://www.uwsv.org/advocate

Volunteer – UWSV links volunteers to projects that fit their schedules and make a lasting positive impact on kids, families and communities http://www.uwsv.org/volunteer
