University of Arizona Cooperative Extension VISTA Project

Tucson, AZ

  • About Us

The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension (UACE) and Arizona 4-H match national service members with experienced University of Arizona Extension agents to strengthen local community assets and reduce poverty through a variety of state-wide projects. AmeriCorps VISTA members help rural and urban communities in Arizona be transformed by utilizing university resources and expertise to improve the quality of life for communities and families throughout the state.

This project offers unique opportunities for those VISTA members who want to make a significant difference in the lives of rural, isolated, tribal families and youth whose parents are in the military. By creating sustainable environments, developing out-of-school programs and summer camps, training Master Gardeners who can teach others how to grow their own food, and helping organizations find resources and create marketing materials, VISTA members are meeting the critical needs of Arizona families and communities. Programs developed by AmeriCorps VISTA members aim to develop a sense of hope for the future through improved living conditions, a cleaner environment and economic self-sufficiency.
