    IRON SHARPENS IRON MENTORING PROGRAM Agency/Program History

    Iron Sharpens Iron, is a nonprofit organization, founded in 2010 in Fairburn GA by three members of Free Spirit Ministries, Pastor Dale Foster, Dedrick Riley, and Antoine Roberson. All three had a common belief that many youth in their community lacked meaningful academic, career guidance, social and life skills. Determined to make a difference,Foster, Riley and Roberson convened a series of community meetings, attended by more than 30 community leaders and concerned parents. With initial financial commitments from community members and local businesses, Foster, Riley, and Roberson founded Iron Sharpens Iron, which operates under FSMCDC (Free Spirit Ministries Community Development Corporation, Inc.) a nonprofit IRS 501(c)3 corporation. Since opening its doors, Iron Sharpens Iron mentoring program has forged strong partnerships with the local business community, media, school districts, and other youth–serving organizations in the community.

    General Information

    Mission Statement The mentoring programs will provide the framework for positive relationships between the business community, school community and the community at-large. These relationships will allow the student to make positive connections between the world of work, school and their community. Students will be helped to develop personal skills and career awareness in order to make better life-long decisions and contributions.
