About Us
About Green Adventure Project School
Green Adventure Project School (GAP School) is a nonprofit, independent K–8 school in Charlottesville, Virginia, reimagining what education can be. Founded on the belief that children learn best through curiosity, meaningful challenge, hands-on experiences, and deep connection to the natural world, GAP offers a dynamic educational model where inquiry, academic rigor, and relationship-centered teaching come together.
At GAP, learning doesn’t happen only at desks. It happens on trails, around campfires, through collaborative projects, in moments of discovery, and in authentic problem-solving experiences that connect learners to the world around them.
We serve a diverse community of learners in grades K–8 through an inquiry-based, nature-connected approach that encourages critical thinking, creativity, resilience, collaboration, and compassion. Our educators are trusted professionals who design meaningful academic experiences aligned with state standards while supporting the growth of the whole child. As a nonprofit organization, GAP is deeply rooted in community and driven by the belief that education can be both rigorous and joyful, innovative and grounded, challenging and deeply human.
Whether through academic programming, outdoor exploration, family engagement, or community partnerships, we are building something intentionally different, and we’re always looking for thoughtful, mission-aligned people to help us grow.
