It can help sustain the entrepreneurial ecosystem necessary to support workforce development and workforce transition, through its social entrepreneurial collaboration impacting problems of workforce development and workforce transition and helping to achieve effective change. Michigan has experienced declines of employment that have had sizable effects on the economy and have accounted for a number of displaced workers with workforce transition a key focus. From 2000 and 2010, 50 percent of all jobs lost in the US were in Michigan (source: New Economy Imitative). Michigan has recovered about half of the total employment level that was lost from 2000 (source: Michigan DTMB). The program can greatly impact issues important to Michigan small business communities.
