CADDO MOUNDS STATE HISTORIC SITE FRIENDS ASSOCIATION INC

  • Mission

The Caddo Mounds State Historic Site Friends Association, Inc. provides private philanthropic support to the benefit of Caddo Mounds State Historic Site’s programs and activities to further the preservation, recognition, and appreciation of our state’s heritage.

    About Us

More than 1,200 years ago, a group of Caddo Indians known as the Hasinai built a village 26 miles west of present-day Nacogdoches. Today, volunteers from around the region help to restore, promote and preserve the natural and cultural history of this special site.

Together with members of the Caddo Nation, archeologists, biologists and agricultural scientists from regional universities and research institutions and dedicated site staff, volunteers can be a part of a number of unique activities that span a wide range of interests, including working with the site's Caddo demonstration garden, construction of a traditional Caddo grass house, maintenance of the site's trails and museum, participation in public events, and more!
