About Us

Notre Dame Mission Volunteers-AmeriCorps believes that education is the fundamental tool in the struggle of the poor for human dignity, self-esteem, and self-determination. Our goal is to promote and encourage education, community empowerment, leadership, and multicultural harmony.

We support children in school and community settings as well as adults who are high school dropouts in need of GED, literacy, or parenting skills.

Our constituents include people in low-income communities of African-American, Native American, Hispanic, and Caucasian descent. Our constituency includes all those in the communities in need of assistance in realizing their educational goals. A special focus of our constituency is communities of recent immigrants.

We recruit AmeriCorps members from local communities and nationally from college campuses. They serve for one year and receive a living stipend and an educational award.
