  • Mission

To provide the public and Twin City community with a museum that educates and entertains visitors of all ages in the historical significance of the original sixteen railroads, and related industries, that were instrumental in the economic development of the Twin Cities Area through interactive displays that showcase the hobby of model and toy railroading. To provide an opportunity for model and toy railroad enthusiasts of all ages to expand their knowledge and skills by planning, building, and operating both museum-owned and personal layouts and equipment.

    About Us

The Twin City Model Railroad Museum is a 76 year old non-profit organization dedicated to educating and informing the public about both the history and importance of railroading to the development of the Twin City area as well as the history and benefits of model and toy railroading itself. It does this through multiple interactive layouts and displays including a 30' x 50' "world-class" scale model train layout of the Twin City area, a 30' x 16' professionally-built toy train layout of the same area, and multiple smaller layouts depicting various scales, modeling methodologies and levels of interactivity.
