VirginiaFIRST

VirginiaFIRST is the regional 501(c)(3) operation of FIRST, an international non-profit organization headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire. The mission of FIRST is to design accessible, innovative programs that build self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills in young people, while motivating them to pursue opportunities in science, technology, and engineering. VirginiaFIRST works to bring the exciting and challenging activities, events, and opportunities of FIRST to Virginia youth.

VirginiaFIRST, in conjunction with its FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge program partners, offers a progression of four programs for youth in grades K to 12, ages 6-18. With assistance from our sponsors, coaches, mentors and friends, FIRST programs challenge and inspire over 7,000 Virginia students on more than 750 teams across the state each year. And, we continue to grow!

VirginiaFIRST offers year round activities that keep students involved and engaged in hands-on learning opportunities: these include workshops, scrimmages, presentations, exhibits, camps, and competitions.

VirginiaFIRST is part of FIRST Chesapeake, which also encompasses Washington, DC and Maryland. FIRSTChesapeake was created to coordinate FIRST Robotics Competition programs across the region and provide additional resources, activities, and opportunities for students in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
