Programs and Gardens at SEEDS
>>> Southside Garden <<<
Our Southside Garden serves as a beautiful urban oasis where groups and individuals connect to plants, wildlife and each other. The two-acre sustainable urban garden is filled with flowers, fruits, vegetables, artwork, compost bins, cisterns and an outdoor classroom.
>>> Children's Programs <<<
SEEDS offers highly engaging interactive programs to show children to the wonders of the natural world. Through hands-on activities, observation and exploration of nature and ecology, our gardens serve as the classroom. Kids will learn how to grow their own food and take it into our teaching kitchen to prepare healthy and delicious meals. Parents can enroll their kids in our after-school programs, school break camps and summer day camp. Teachers can bring their class to SEEDS for a field trip, or we bring the garden to you at your school. All programs are for 1st through 5th graders.
>>> Garden of Eatin' <<<
This public garden was created next to the Durham Farmers' Market as an example of a permaculture- based landscape, producing fruits, nuts, vegetables and herbs for people to pick and enjoy in a beautiful natural space.
As SEEDS grows and resources permit, we will add a chef- and gardener-in training program for middle school students, and relaunch DIG, Durham Inner-City Gardeners, an innovative and entrepreneurial program for high school students.
