Sumac Elementary PFA

The Sumac Parent Faculty Association shall serve to coordinate and unify parents, faculty, and interested individuals and to act as a voice for the school in community matters. The PFA shall endeavor to further the education and welfare of children by supplementing the curriculum, facilities, supplies and extracurricular programs.

Most people don't realize that Sumac Elementary is the only Title I elementary school in our district, due to our high percentage of economically disadvantaged families. But, like the Little Engine That Could, we are also, proudly, a California Distinguished School with test scores in line with the rest of the district. However, our school has a much smaller economic base to raise funds internally. We must rely heavily on outside financial assistance to sustain a quality education for all of our students. The Parent Faculty Assocation's efforts throughout the year focus on raising enough funds to keep our instructional specialists and provide educational supplies to all classrooms depends upon its success.
